I Looked Up From My Screen at 6:42pm and Realized I Hadn't Seen the Sky All Day

A customer story, shared with permission.

Looking up from a laptop at a blank wall

My eyes were burning. My neck hurt. And when I looked up for a break, there was just the same blank wall I'd been staring at for three years.

I used to be the person who'd drive 6 hours for a sunrise at a national park. Now my camera roll is full of trips I keep saying I'll take "when work calms down." It never does.

I was looking at the outdoors… on another screen

The worst part? On my desk, my wallpaper was a photo of a canyon I visited years ago. When my eyes got tired I looked out the window, but the view wasn't exactly inspiring.

So I picked up my phone, or stared at that wallpaper. Every "break" was just another screen.

Scrolling a phone late at night

That's when it hit me: my eyes never get a real break. They just move from one screen to another.

I didn't think I was a "painting person"

But I tried one small kit, put the finished piece on the wall by my desk, and now when I look up between tasks, there's finally something there that isn't glowing at me.

It doesn't replace being out there. But on the days I can't be, it's enough to make the room feel less like a cage.

What the first evenings look like

A kit is a pre-printed canvas with numbered areas and paint pots with matching numbers. Pick a color, find its number, fill it in. Most of our 24-color kits take about 4–6 hours of painting, so many people spread it over a few evenings.

Evening 2: the canyon walls

Painting the canyon walls number by number

Evening 3: last details, then it goes on the wall

Questions

I've never painted. Can I do this?

Yes. Every area is numbered and the paints are matched, so there's no mixing and no guessing.

How long does one kit take?

Most 24-color kits take about 4–6 hours. The 18"x24" size has more area, so it takes a little longer.

Frame or no frame?

The rolled canvas is painted flat and framed your way. The DIY wooden frame option comes with stretcher bars so you can hang it straight on the wall.

How long does delivery take?

Every order is prepared and shipped within 2–5 days. Delivery to the US usually takes 8–15 business days in total, with a tracking number by email.

What if I run out of paint?

Each kit includes enough paint to finish. If you need a little more, write to support@wanderpainting.com.
