Paint bleeds past the line

What happens
You hold the brush steady. The paint still creeps over the edge. Do that a few times and the whole picture looks muddy. Most people stop right there.
Why
Thin paint runs along the canvas threads before it dries. A line that isn't sealed lets it straight through.

Paint dries out in the pot

What happens
You come back after a few nights. One pot has gone thick and lumpy. Sometimes it's like that on the first night.
Why
Small pots lose water fast. Cheap paint splits and clumps. Then it clogs your brush.
What we do about it

You run out of a color

What happens
The sky blue is gone. A third of the sky is still bare. You can't match it. So the canvas goes in a drawer.
Why
Most brands put the same amount in every pot. But a sky needs far more blue than anything else needs.
What we do about it
We measure every pot against the design. The color you use most is the pot with the most in it.

What happens
Two coats on, and you can still see the number. You can't tell what's done. And it still shows in the finished painting.
Why
Thin paint needs three coats to hide printed ink. Nobody has time for three coats.
